About COVEN

Coven is a fast‑paced retro first‑person shooter/slasher that follows a young girl falsely condemned as a witch in an alternate 1600s. After a mysterious resurrection, she embarks on a vengeful journey that stretches across time and space. The game blends early‑modern weaponry with magic, demanding quick reflexes and strategic movement.

The first episode lets players dash, slide, and slow time while hunting enemies, consuming the dead to restore health, and exploring varied locales such as villages, temples, and forests. Two additional episodes are planned for early‑access, each set in a distinct historical period, and the soundtrack is composed by John S. Weekley (Primeval).

01 / THE GUIDE

Gameplay Mechanics

Coven combines first‑person shooting with slasher elements, letting players wield an explosive mix of early modern weapons and magic. Combat is rapid, encouraging aggressive engagements and precise timing. Movement is emphasized through dash, slide, and a time‑slow ability, which together shape how players navigate encounters and avoid damage.

  • Experiment with dashing and sliding to find a rhythm that matches enemy patterns.
  • Use time‑slow strategically when surrounded to create openings.

02 / THE GUIDE

Health System

Health recovery is tied to a macabre mechanic: consuming the flesh of newly deceased enemies restores vitality. This creates a risk‑reward loop where players must balance aggression with survivability. The system encourages continuous combat, as staying in the fight directly fuels health regeneration.

  • Prioritize finishing off weakened foes quickly to secure health.
  • Watch enemy death timing to avoid missing regeneration opportunities.
