About Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor

Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor expands the award‑winning real‑time strategy franchise with three episodic campaigns that add new missions, objectives, and a persistent environment for each storyline. The episodes let players command a German Tiger tank ace, an American paratrooper company, and a Wehrmacht force defending the Falaise Pocket.

The expansion also introduces new infantry and vehicle units, historic battle maps such as Villers‑Bocage, and three multiplayer modes—Panzerkrieg, Assault, and Stonewall. Steam Cloud and Family Sharing are supported on Windows, allowing saved progress to follow the player across compatible PCs.

01 / THE GUIDE

Episodic Campaigns

Tales of Valor provides three self‑contained episodes, each set in a distinct WWII context. Episode 1 follows German Tiger‑tank ace Hauptmann Voss against the British 7th Armored Division on D‑Day; Episode 2 puts the player in command of an American paratrooper company during the hours after the landings; Episode 3 tasks a Wehrmacht army with holding the Falaise Pocket against advancing Allies.

Within each episode, new missions and objectives exist in a persistent environment, meaning that missions and objectives unfold within a continuing environment inside that episode. This structure creates a narrative arc that builds on the base game while delivering fresh tactical challenges.

  • Compare the offensive focus of the American paratrooper missions with the defensive emphasis of the Wehrmacht Falaise Pocket missions.
  • Observe how unit placement in early missions influences options available later in the same episode.

02 / THE GUIDE

Direct Fire Control

Beyond standard RTS orders, Tales of Valor lets players directly aim, fire, and maneuver units in real time. This mechanic blends tactical decision‑making with hands‑on micro‑control, allowing rapid reactions to shifting battle conditions.

The direct‑fire system applies to both infantry and vehicles, so players can manually target enemies while still issuing broader strategic commands, creating a hybrid play style that merges macro management with precise unit handling.

  • Test aiming with a tank versus an infantry squad to see how direct fire changes engagement outcomes.
  • Use real‑time maneuvering to exploit flanks revealed by your strategic overview.

New Units

The expansion adds several new infantry and vehicle options, notably the amphibious Schwimmwagen and the 4×4 Staghound armored car. The Schwimmwagen can travel on both land and water, while the Staghound is a highly maneuverable 4x4 armored car.

These units sit alongside existing forces, giving commanders fresh tools for reconnaissance, rapid assaults, or holding key positions, especially on maps that feature water obstacles or open ground.

  • Deploy the Schwimmwagen on mixed land‑water maps to test its amphibious advantage.
  • Use the Staghound's high maneuverability for flanking runs.

04 / THE GUIDE

Multiplayer Modes

Three new multiplayer modes expand competitive play. In Panzerkrieg, players become tank commanders battling head‑to‑head. Assault lets a hero unit lead an offensive push, while Stonewall pits teams against waves of attackers in a defensive stand.

Each mode emphasizes different unit compositions and win conditions, encouraging players to adapt their tactics to the specific objectives of the chosen mode.

  • Try Panzerkrieg to focus on tank positioning and direct fire skills.
  • Use Stonewall to practice coordinated defense against successive enemy waves.

05 / THE GUIDE

New Maps and Territory

Tales of Valor adds maps modeled after historic battles such as Villers‑Bocage, providing fresh terrain for competitive play in the online battlefield.

Competitive players can explore novel strategies on these battlegrounds, while the single‑player experience benefits from authentic WWII settings that enhance immersion.

  • Study Villers‑Bocage’s layout to identify natural choke points for defensive setups.
  • Leverage the Schwimmwagen on maps with water features to gain mobility advantages.
