About Command: Modern Operations
Command: Modern Operations (CMO) is a simulation that puts you in the seat of a Tactical or Theater Commander, covering conflicts from post‑World War II to near‑future scenarios. It integrates air, surface, subsurface, ground, space and cyber domains with a real‑world database and physics engine used by NATO analysts.
The game offers massive scale—thousands of platforms in real time—while providing tools like a Quick Battle Generator, Lua scripting and Steam Workshop support for custom scenarios. Multiplayer lets you coordinate or contest plans with other commanders in live tactical engagements.
01 / THE GUIDE
True Multi‑Domain Warfare
CMO lets you orchestrate joint operations across land, sea, air, space and the electromagnetic spectrum. You can coordinate carrier strike groups, stealth fighters, submarine wolfpacks, anti‑ship ballistic missiles and orbital bombardments.
The simulation also models electronic attack, allowing offensive radar jamming, communications disruption, spoofing and anti‑radiation strikes to degrade enemy air‑defense systems before kinetic action.
- Plan sensor‑jamming before launching air strikes to reduce enemy IADS effectiveness.
- Use orbital assets to extend reach when surface or air options are limited.

Advanced Physics, EW & Cyber
Every engagement models real‑world ballistics, sensor degradation, thermal ocean layers, line‑of‑sight geometry and electronic attack. This depth ensures that kinetic and non‑kinetic actions behave realistically.
You can deploy offensive radar jamming, communications disruption, spoofing countermeasures and anti‑radiation strikes to blind enemy Integrated Air Defense Systems before launching kinetic strikes.
- Consider thermal layers when planning submarine attacks for realistic sonar performance.
- Synchronize cyber disruption with kinetic strikes for maximum impact.

Doctrine, WRA & Operational AI
CMO lets you define Weapon Release Authorities, EMCON policies and automated patrol behaviors, reducing micromanagement. Advanced tactical AI handles pilot and captain responses while you focus on theater strategy.
This AI can execute detailed orders, allowing you to set high‑level objectives and let the system manage individual unit actions within those constraints.
- Set clear WRA limits to prevent unintended escalation.
- Use EMCON to hide friendly emissions when stealth is critical.

Real‑Time Multiplayer (RTMP)
CMO supports live tactical multiplayer where you can cooperate or compete with other commanders. Joint strike packages and defensive networks can be coordinated in real‑time human‑vs‑human combat.
Multiplayer matches use the same physics and database as single‑player, ensuring consistent fidelity across all engagements.
- Communicate clearly with allies to synchronize strike timing.
- Practice defensive network setups in co‑op before PvP matches.

Custom Scenarios & Editing Tools
CMO includes a Quick Battle Generator, Lua scripting engine and a Steam Workshop integration for creating and sharing scenarios. Over 600 official and community scenarios are available.
The editor lets you place assets, define objectives and script events, providing a flexible platform for both historical recreations and speculative operations.
- Start with the Quick Battle Generator to prototype ideas quickly.
- Use Lua scripts to add dynamic events that react to player actions.
