About Cliff Empire

Cliff Empire drops players into a post‑nuclear Earth where a 300 m radioactive fog forces humanity to survive in orbit. Scientists have built cliff‑side habitats to begin restoring the planet, and the game invites bold players to manage that effort.

Players construct three small cities per randomly generated level, trade 15 goods with an orbital station, and contend with a dynamic climate. Choices include ecological versus harmful power, university research, sandbox and tower‑defense modes, and a series of extra quests that unlock late‑game locations.

01 / THE GUIDE

City Construction

Each level generates three small cities that must be built using over 120 distinct structures. The building system works with 3D, orthographic, and free‑camera views, letting players walk around their settlements for precise placement.

University research—48 separate institutions—unlocks improvements to city structures, allowing more efficient layouts and new building options as the game progresses.

  • Toggle camera modes to find the view that best reveals spacing issues.
  • Invest in university research early to broaden your building palette.

02 / THE GUIDE

Economy and Trade

Players develop the economies of several independent cities while trading with an orbital station. Fifteen different goods serve both consumption and exchange, shaping each city’s prosperity.

Balancing imports and exports between cities and the station helps mitigate shortages that arise from the dynamic climate system.

  • Keep a steady flow of all 15 goods to avoid consumption gaps.
  • Use the orbital station as a hub to redistribute excess resources.

Power Sources

Cities can be powered either ecologically or with harmful methods. The selected power type directly influences the city’s environmental impact and its ability to cope with climate changes.

Ecological power tends to support long‑term stability, while harmful power may provide short‑term benefits but raises climate‑related challenges.

  • Choose ecological power for sustainable growth.
  • Watch climate alerts when using harmful energy.

04 / THE GUIDE

Dynamic Climate

A dynamic climate system tests each city’s economy, altering resource production and stability as conditions shift. Players must adapt strategies to survive these fluctuations.

Diversifying economic output and reinforcing infrastructure improve resilience against sudden climate events.

  • Build a mixed economy to buffer climate shocks.
  • Upgrade infrastructure after major climate shifts.

Additional Content

Beyond core city building, the game offers 15 extra quests that unlock access to the orbital station and a large late‑game location. A sandbox mode and tower‑defense elements add optional challenges.

These features extend replayability, allowing players to experiment with different strategic approaches after completing the main objectives.

  • Finish extra quests early to reach the orbital station sooner.
  • Use sandbox mode to test unconventional city layouts.
