About Chained Beasts
Chained Beasts drops you into a gladiatorial arena where up to four players are literally chained together. The co‑op roguelike blends brutal melee, environmental tricks and slapstick chaos as you fight for fame, freedom, or revenge.
Each run challenges you with vicious bosses, worsening wounds, and a need to balance aggression with teamwork. Success earns crowd support, money for gear, and new characters, while every death forces you to start anew with fresh choices.
01 / THE GUIDE
Co‑op Chain Mechanics
Players are linked by literal chains that affect movement and positioning. Coordinating actions can let you trip enemies or avoid becoming tangled on pillars. Poor coordination may leave you stuck, limiting combat options.
The chain system encourages synchronized attacks, such as hurling foes into hazards together. It also creates moments where a misstep can cause the whole group to be immobilised, adding tension to every encounter.
- Practice simple timing cues with your teammates to avoid accidental entanglement.
- Use the chain to pull allies out of danger by pulling in the opposite direction.
02 / THE GUIDE
Environmental Interactions
The arena is littered with objects like urns, spikes, and pits of snakes that can be used against foes. Players can hurl an urn at enemies or launch enemies into hazards for extra damage.
Throwing weapons allows ranged attacks, but you must keep another weapon ready. The environment thus becomes a strategic tool, rewarding creative use of surroundings.
- Identify nearby hazards before engaging to plan combo attacks.
- Keep a backup weapon nearby when you throw your primary one.

Wound and Potion System
Each arena day adds new injuries such as limps, missing eyes, or hallucinations. These wounds affect your performance until treated.
Potions can relieve pain but may cause additional afflictions, creating a risk‑reward choice for managing health during a run.
- Weigh the immediate benefit of a potion against possible side effects before using it.
- Consider saving potions for critical moments when a wound severely hampers movement.

Progression and Unlocks
Experience earned in the arena lets you learn new skills and purchase equipment with money earned from victories. This progression helps tackle tougher enemies and bosses.
New characters with distinct abilities become available as you accumulate enough progress, encouraging varied playstyles across runs.
- Invest early earnings in versatile weapons to handle diverse enemy types.
- Experiment with unlocked characters to discover which abilities complement your team’s chain dynamics.

Multiplatform and Controller Support
Chained Beasts runs on Windows and macOS, supporting both single‑player and multiplayer modes. Online, split‑screen and cross‑platform co‑op are all available.
Full controller support is provided, with recommendations for gamepads such as DualShock and DualSense, allowing flexible input choices for all players.
- Test the controller setup during early sessions to find your preferred control scheme.
- Use Remote Play Together if a teammate lacks the same platform.
