About Castle Crashers

Castle Crashers® is a 2‑D sidescrolling arcade adventure where players hack, slash, and smash through levels to defend a kingdom and rescue princesses. Up to four players can join locally or online, sharing the chaos in real time. The game offers a blend of action, RPG progression, and lighthearted humor, with a variety of weapons and magic attacks to discover.

Beyond the core campaign, Castle Crashers includes competitive arenas, a challenging Insane Mode, and a quirky minigame called Back Off Barbarian. Optional DLC adds new characters, art, and a custom‑character system, all toggleable so players can keep the classic feel if they wish.

01 / THE GUIDE

Characters and Weapons

The base game provides more than 25 playable characters, each equipped with a selection of over 40 weapons. Weapons change the visual style of attacks and can be swapped throughout the adventure.

Each character’s appearance and weapon set can be further expanded with DLC packs, adding new heroes like the Blacksmith and Pink Knight, as well as custom art options.

  • Experiment with different weapons to find attack styles you enjoy.
  • Mix and match DLC characters for fresh visual combos.

02 / THE GUIDE

Skill Points and Stats

As characters level up, they earn skill points that can be allocated among Strength, Magic, Defense, and Agility. Adjusting these stats tailors combat effectiveness and magic usage to personal playstyle.

The intuitive magic and combo system unlocks new attacks as you progress, rewarding investment in specific attributes.

  • Focus on Strength for melee damage, or Magic for spell variety.
  • Balance Defense and Agility to survive tougher enemies.
