About Cartel Tycoon
Cartel Tycoon places you in a fictional 1980s Latin America where cocaine reshapes economies and politics. You start a modest farm and expand into a sprawling network of plantations, labs, and aerodromes while rival gangs, the DEA, army and even the CIA threaten your growth.
The title offers three distinct play styles: a narrative‑heavy Story mode, a hardcore permadeath Survival mode, and a highly customizable Sandbox. Death triggers a succession mechanic, letting a lieutenant inherit the cartel and continue the enterprise.
01 / THE GUIDE
Empire Building
Your venture begins with a small farming operation. By adding plantations, laboratories, and aerodromes you create a logistical chain that moves product from field to market, each step increasing potential profit.
Numerous upgrade paths let you combine facilities in many ways. Strategic choices about which links to add shape the efficiency of production, smuggling, and sales across the game’s world.
- Compare early facility upgrades to see which supply‑chain link yields the biggest profit increase.
- Observe cash flow after adding a new building before committing to further expansion.

Leadership and Death
When a capo falls, you promote one of several unique lieutenants. The successor takes control of the cartel, allowing the empire to persist beyond a single leader’s demise.
Death is presented as inevitable, but the succession system ensures that a run does not end abruptly; the new leader continues development and confrontations.
- Review each lieutenant’s documented traits to match a successor with your current strategy.
- Consider promoting during a low‑activity period to reduce disruption to ongoing operations.

Financial Management
Revenue from drug sales can be laundered, providing funds for expansion, lieutenant loyalty, and bribes to corrupt officials. Money therefore drives both growth and security.
The game emphasizes that “everything – and everyone – has a price,” linking financial decisions directly to operational success and risk of law‑enforcement attention.
- Balance laundering costs against operational spending to avoid cash shortages.
- Track how bribes affect political relationships versus the likelihood of police interference.

Game Modes
Story mode delivers tens of hours of narrative, introducing dozens of characters and plot threads that guide the player through the cartel’s rise.
Survival mode adds permanent death for a heightened challenge, while Sandbox lets players set their own rules and experiment with endless strategic combinations.
- Play a short story mission first to learn core mechanics before attempting Survival.
- Use Sandbox to test upgrade combinations without narrative pressure.

Audio and Atmosphere
An original soundtrack blends psychedelic and Latin American influences, reinforcing the 1980s setting and the game’s gritty tone.
The music accompanies both narrative scenes and intense confrontations, adding an audible layer to the atmosphere.
- Notice how the soundtrack shifts during combat versus planning phases.
- Adjust volume to keep dialogue clear when the music swells.
