About Car Mechanic Simulator 2018
Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 builds on the series with photorealistic graphics, a detailed repair system and over 40 cars. Players begin in a modest workshop, using more than 10 tools and 1,000 parts to fix, paint, tune and drive vehicles.
The game adds Barn Find and Junkyard modules, car auctions, a test track, a race track, a Path Test for suspension, and a Car Editor for custom cars. An XP‑based upgrade system lets you expand the garage, add equipment like a lacquer sprayer, and store parts in a warehouse.
01 / THE GUIDE
Workshop upgrades and equipment
You start with a small workshop that can be expanded into a three‑lifter garage. Upgrades are bought with points earned from jobs, unlocking items such as a lacquer sprayer, parts warehouse, and engine crane.
The upgrade system is level‑based; gaining XP lets you spend points to improve facilities, which in turn lets you handle more complex repairs and keep the 1,000+ parts organized.
- Buy the parts warehouse early to keep frequently used components accessible.
- Add the lacquer sprayer once you have enough lifts to increase paint job efficiency.

Barn Find and Junkyard modules
The Barn Find module lets you search abandoned barns for hidden cars and salvageable parts. Each barn can contain a complete vehicle or individual components useful for later jobs.
The Junkyard provides rusty cars and a source of spare parts. Scavenging here expands your parts pool without spending cash on the shop.
- Check every corner of a barn; even small parts may be needed for future repairs.
- Collect rare components from the junkyard before considering purchase at auctions.

Car auctions and resale
Car auctions present pre‑owned vehicles that can be bought for your collection or flipped for profit. Bidding competes with other virtual bidders, adding a strategic element to acquiring rare models.
Acquired cars can be restored using your workshop tools, then sold or kept for personal projects, influencing both income and garage reputation.
- Set a maximum bid before entering an auction to avoid overspending.
- Target cars that match the tools you already own to reduce extra purchases.

Test track, race track and Path Test
The Test Track lets you check overall car condition or simply drive around for fun. The Race Track adds a timer for measuring performance after upgrades.
A separate Path Test is provided specifically for evaluating suspension setups, allowing you to verify handling before delivering a job.
- Use the Path Test after installing new shocks to confirm suspension behavior.
- Record race track times before and after tuning to see performance gains.

Car editor and modding support
From day one, the Car Editor lets players add custom vehicles, liveries, license plates and even user‑provided music, extending the game beyond the built‑in 40+ cars.
Modding support integrates with Steam Workshop, making it easy to share creations and download community content such as new cars or paint schemes.
- Start with a simple car model in the editor to learn the workflow.
- Browse the Workshop for ready‑made liveries to personalize vehicles quickly.
