About Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles

Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles is a casual sandbox builder set on the ocean‑world Ursee. Players carve settlements from cliffs and waters, linking towers and walls while managing resources that travel by distance rather than quantity.

The game offers three distinct ways to play, from the standard exploratory mode with diplomacy and combat, to a conflict‑free Freebuild mode, and a Total Conquest mode where every faction is hostile and raids are frequent.

01 / THE GUIDE

Game Modes

The main mode lets you explore Ursee, gather resources, and negotiate with scattered factions while expanding your fortress. Progress is measured by population growth, unlocking commanders, ships, and abilities tied to each faction’s Soultree.

Freebuild mode removes conflict and resource limits, allowing unlimited construction. Total Conquest mode disables diplomacy, starts you at war with every faction, and increases raid frequency, turning survival into the primary challenge.

  • Begin in Freebuild to learn tower placement without resource constraints.
  • Switch to Total Conquest after you have reliable trade routes for a tougher test.

02 / THE GUIDE

Resource Transport System

Wood, stone and iron are not stored as numbers; instead, only the distance from a source matters. Structures within range of a resource node can be upgraded and built for free, while those out of range cannot.

To extend free‑build zones you must connect towers and sea trade routes, shaping the layout of your fortress around logistical reach rather than material stockpiles.

  • Place early towers close together to quickly expand free‑build zones.
  • Create sea routes to bridge gaps where land towers cannot reach.

Splinters Currency

Splinters are a separate currency used for diplomacy, army building, buying new locations and unique buildings. They are earned through population growth, trade with other factions, and as rewards from combat.

Because Splinters are independent of physical resources, you can focus on expanding influence and military strength without needing additional material supplies.

  • Prioritize population growth to generate a steady flow of Splinters.
  • Engage in early trade missions to boost Splinter income.

04 / THE GUIDE

Faction Soultrees

When populations from different factions join your settlement, their Soultrees unlock new commanders, ships, units and abilities. Each faction’s content is tied to progress along its own Soultree.

Inviting diverse populations can enrich your options, but it may also increase tension, potentially leading to war or stronger alliances that merge with your empire.

  • Balance faction diversity to avoid triggering widespread hostility.
  • Focus on one faction’s Soultree first to streamline early upgrades.

Controller Compatibility

Bulwark offers full controller support, including DualShock and DualSense devices, allowing navigation of menus and building actions without a keyboard or mouse.

The game also provides adjustable text size, subtitles, and other accessibility options, ensuring a comfortable experience across different input methods.

  • Test both DualShock and DualSense to see which feels more responsive.
  • Adjust text size if menu navigation feels cramped.
