About Brotato
Brotato follows a lone potato survivor of a crashed spaceship on an alien world. The player must survive successive alien waves while waiting for rescue. The game mixes short runs with a large selection of weapons and items, encouraging varied experimentation.
Each run lasts under 30 minutes, with waves that last from 20 to 90 seconds. Local co‑op lets up to four players share the same wave schedule, and accessibility options let you tune enemy health, damage, and speed.

Wave Structure
A run is built from consecutive waves that each last between 20 and 90 seconds. During a wave you must eliminate as many aliens as possible, then the wave ends and you move to the intermission.
Between waves you can spend collected materials for experience and purchase items from the shop. The cycle repeats until you are defeated or you end the session, keeping the overall run under thirty minutes.
- Prioritize quick enemy elimination to maximize material collection before the wave ends.
- Use the intermission to review your inventory and plan the next wave’s loadout.

Weapon Management
Brotato can equip up to six weapons at once, and all weapons fire automatically unless you switch to manual aiming. The catalogue includes flamethrowers, SMGs, rocket launchers, and even sticks and stones.
Weapons are purchased from the shop during intermissions, allowing you to mix and match items each wave. This flexibility lets you adapt your firepower to the current enemy composition.
- Combine a high‑damage weapon with a rapid‑fire gun to cover both burst and sustained damage.
- Experiment with unconventional weapons like sticks to discover unique interactions.

Character Variants
Dozens of characters are available, each providing a distinct modifier such as one‑handed, crazy, lucky, or mage. Selecting a character changes how items and weapons affect your performance.
Because each character applies a different rule set, trying multiple characters encourages replayability and helps you discover which modifiers suit your preferred approach.
- Test a mage character if you want to explore magic‑oriented item effects.
- Try a one‑handed character to experience the challenge of reduced weapon slots.

Local Co‑op
Local co‑op supports up to four players on a shared or split screen. All participants experience the same wave timing and share the same shop between waves.
Each player can select their own character and weapon loadout, but the wave progression and intermission resources are common, requiring coordinated play to maximize enemy kills.
- Discuss weapon roles before a wave to avoid redundant firepower.
- Assign one player to focus on crowd control while others target high‑value enemies.

Accessibility Options
The game includes settings that let you tweak enemy health, damage, and speed, allowing you to adjust difficulty without changing core mechanics.
Full controller support and Steam integrations such as Remote Play and Cloud saves are also provided, giving flexible ways to play.
- Lower enemy speed if you need more reaction time during waves.
- Increase enemy health for a tougher solo challenge.
