About Boo! Are you scared? The Chests Game
Boo! Are you scared? is a casual, indie strategy card game where you sit across from Boo and play a Go Fish‑style match. The core loop involves asking for ranks, collecting four‑of‑a‑kind sets, and racing to five completed sets. The game runs in single‑player mode on Windows, supports Steam achievements, cloud saves, workshop content, and family sharing, letting you enjoy a simple yet thoughtful card‑collecting experience with a friendly ghost opponent.
01 / THE GUIDE
Goal of the Match
Your aim is to gather four cards of the same rank, forming a set. Each completed set counts toward the win condition. The first player to finish five such sets claims victory, ending the round and awarding the win.
- Track which ranks you already have to prioritize set completion.
- Focus on completing sets that Boo has already shown interest in.

How Turns Flow
A turn begins with you asking Boo for a specific rank. If Boo holds any of those cards, he hands them over and you continue your turn. If Boo lacks the requested rank, you draw a card and then Boo takes his turn, following the same ask‑and‑receive pattern.
- Remember Boo’s previous answers to anticipate his hand.
- Use the draw opportunity to fill gaps in your own sets.

Asking for Cards
You may only request a rank that you already possess in your hand, ensuring every ask is grounded in known information. Boo also follows this rule, meaning his requests always reflect at least one card of that rank in his possession.
- Limit asks to ranks you have multiple copies of for higher return.
- Observe which ranks Boo repeatedly asks for to gauge his holdings.

When No Cards Are Given
If the opponent does not have any of the requested rank, you must draw a single card from the deck. This act is commonly referred to as “going fish.” After drawing, the turn passes to the other player, maintaining the alternating rhythm of the game.
- Treat a draw as a chance to discover new ranks for future asks.
- Keep track of drawn cards to avoid redundant requests.

Memory as a Tool
Boo cannot see your hand, but he remembers every rank you have asked for. Likewise, you should remember Boo’s questions to infer his hand composition. Using this shared memory helps both players make informed asks, turning the game into a light strategic exercise.
- Write down each ask to build a mental map of both hands.
- Notice patterns in Boo’s requests to predict his missing ranks.
