About BOKURA
BOKURA is a two‑player side‑scrolling puzzle adventure where each participant sees a distinct version of the same world—one filled with animals, the other with machines. The game forces constant verbal communication, as players must describe what they see, coordinate actions, and make joint decisions to progress.
The story follows two boys who awaken after fainting beside a dead deer, each perceiving a divergent reality. Over three to four hours of play, the duo must reconcile their perspectives, solve environmental puzzles, and uncover why their worlds have split, without any single‑player or AI companion.

Gameplay Mechanics
BOKURA presents a side‑scrolling co‑op experience where each screen displays unique visuals and object behaviours. Players must describe their surroundings to each other, using that information to trigger actions that affect both worlds.
Critical choices appear throughout the narrative, steering the story in different directions. The estimated playtime is three to four hours, and every puzzle requires joint discussion and synchronized input.
- Keep a clear voice channel open to avoid miscommunication.
- Take brief notes of each other's descriptions to track differing object behaviours.

Communication Requirements
Players must communicate directly; the game does not provide built‑in voice chat. If playing remotely, an external method such as a voice call is necessary.
Both participants need separate machines, and the game will not function with a single player or AI partner.
- Test your voice chat before starting to ensure low latency.
- Agree on simple descriptors for recurring objects to speed up dialogue.

Player Perspectives
One player experiences a world populated by animals, while the other sees a mechanical environment. Identical characters may appear as a picture‑book animal to one and as a robot to the other.
Interactive objects can move differently for each player, making shared observation essential for puzzle solutions.
- Regularly confirm which version of an object each player is interacting with.
- Use visual cues like colour or shape to differentiate shared items.

Co‑op Modes
BOKURA supports online and LAN co‑op, allowing players in different locations to connect their separate machines. Full controller support is available, though a gamepad is recommended.
Family Sharing is listed, indicating the game can be shared within a household’s account system.
- If playing locally, use a LAN connection for the most stable experience.
- Prefer gamepads for smoother input, as they are recommended.

Story Context
The narrative follows two boys who run away, encounter a dead deer, and awaken in split realities—one animal‑filled, the other machine‑filled. Their goal is to understand the cause and return to a shared world.
The creator describes the game as an exploration of differing perceptions, aiming to relive childhood friendship through this dual‑vision premise.
- Focus on the emotional arc; remembering the boys’ bond can guide decision‑making.
- Discuss story clues aloud to piece together why the worlds diverged.
