About Bionic Commando
Bionic Commando returns Nathan "R.A.D." Spencer five years after his defeat of the Imperials, only to find himself framed, imprisoned, and sentenced to death. On the day of his execution a terrorist blast devastates Ascension City, turning it into rubble and handing control of the air‑defense grid to an unknown force.
The sequel shifts the classic swing‑and‑shoot formula into a fully 3D world of skyscrapers, monorails, canyons and sheer rock faces. Players swing, climb and wall‑walk using Spencer’s bionic arm while confronting enemies with a range of weapons, all backed by next‑gen physics and full multiplayer support.

Story and Setting
The narrative follows Nathan Spencer, now a condemned man, as a terrorist weapon razes Ascension City on the day of his execution. The city’s ruins become the battlefield for a behind‑lines assault against a mysterious terrorist force.
The setting blends towering skyscrapers, suspended roadways, monorails, deep canyons and sheer rock faces, providing a vertical playground that reflects the chaos left by the earthquake and the ongoing conflict.
- Observe how the ruined environment influences enemy placement; higher ground often offers better sightlines.
- Compare the atmosphere of the ruined city to the original 8‑bit locations for narrative continuity.

Bionic Arm Mechanics
Spencer’s bionic arm lets players hook onto distant objects, zip up hanging girders and swing between skyscrapers at high speed. The arm also interacts with physics, allowing players to throw massive objects, pummel foes, whip enemies into the air or pull parts of the landscape.
These actions are central to both traversal and combat, turning the arm into a versatile tool rather than a simple movement aid.
- Experiment with pulling the environment to create new paths; the physics engine reacts realistically.
- Use the arm’s throwing ability to clear obstacles before committing to a swing.

3D Traversal
The game expands the original’s horizontal‑only movement into true three‑dimensional traversal. Players swing, climb, scale and wall‑walk across towering buildings, suspended roadways and sheer rock faces, choosing routes that suit their play style.
Vertical and horizontal movement are equally important, encouraging players to think in all three axes when planning attacks or evading enemies.
- Map out both vertical and horizontal routes before engaging heavily armed sections.
- Compare the freedom of movement here with the original’s limited plane to appreciate the design evolution.

Multiplayer Mode
Bionic Commando includes a full multiplayer component with rich stat‑tracking, allowing players to compare performance and determine whether they act like a true commando or a lowly private. Multiplayer offers a separate mode alongside the single‑player campaign.
Stat‑tracking provides a quantitative way to gauge skill, encouraging repeated play and competition among friends or online opponents.
- Review your stat sheet after each match to identify strengths and weaknesses.
- Try matching friends of differing skill levels to see how the stat system differentiates performance.

Steam Cloud Saves
The game leverages Steam Cloud to store save data, enabling players to continue their progress on any PC where they log into their Steam account. This feature removes the need for manual file transfers.
Cloud saves let you pick up where you left off when logging into your Steam account on any PC.
- Confirm that cloud sync is enabled in Steam settings before switching PCs.
- Use the cloud feature to test different difficulty settings without losing main progress.
