About Battlezone 98 Redux
Battlezone 98 Redux revives the classic 1998 sci‑fi strategy title with high‑definition visuals and a hybrid of first‑person cockpit combat and real‑time strategy. Players command heavy assault tanks, cruisers and APCs while harvesting alien bio‑metal to build bases and defenses across lunar and planetary battlefields.
The game offers two single‑player campaigns—American and Soviet—spanning 29 missions on seven worlds, plus online multiplayer for 2‑8 players in Deathmatch or Strategy modes. Community content is supported through Steam Workshop and an in‑game map editor, extending the experience beyond the base offering.
01 / THE GUIDE
First‑Person RTS Combat
Combat blends an immersive cockpit view with traditional RTS commands, letting you pilot vehicles while issuing orders to other units. Weapons such as Howitzers, MAG Cannons, Cold Fusion Lasers and Day Wrecker Artillery fire super‑heated projectiles at enemy forces.
Bases can be constructed from production factories, power plants, barracks, armouries, command towers and defensive turrets. Scavenging bio‑metal on the battlefield supplies the resources needed for these constructions, linking frontline combat to base development.
- Watch enemy fire patterns before committing heavy artillery.
- Balance vehicle deployment with base fortifications for sustained pressure.

Dual Campaigns
Players choose either American or Soviet forces, each with its own storyline across 29 missions. The missions are set on seven planetary environments, including the Moon, Mars, Venus, Titan, Io and Europa, providing varied terrain.
Both campaigns share the same core mechanics—vehicle combat, base building and bio‑metal scavenging—allowing players to experience the conflict from opposite perspectives within the same conflict.
- Play both sides to compare unit balances and mission design.
- Use the differing planetary settings to experiment with tactical approaches.

Online Multiplayer
Multiplayer supports 2‑8 players via Steam, offering classic Deathmatch and a Strategy mode billed as a pulse-pounding battle of wits. Players can field the same vehicle arsenal as in single‑player.
Strategy mode challenges players to outthink their opponents in real time, testing tactical skill against opposing forces.
- Coordinate base building and attacks with teammates in Strategy mode.
- Prioritise vehicle maneuverability in Deathmatch to out‑maneuver opponents.

Steam Workshop & Map Editor
Steam Workshop integration provides access to community‑created maps, vehicles, HUDs and scripts. Subscribing to these items adds them directly into the game without external tools.
An in‑built map editor lets players design custom multiplayer arenas. The editor works within the game client, enabling creators to test layouts and publish them for others to download via the Workshop.
- Browse the Workshop for maps that match your preferred planetary setting.
- Use the map editor to experiment with layout tweaks before publishing.

Remastered Visuals
The title has been rebuilt in HD, featuring completely remodelled vehicles and buildings, enhanced lighting, shadows and particle effects. Terrain has been upscaled and animations refined for a modern aesthetic.
These visual upgrades are most noticeable in the cockpit view, where improved lighting cues and particle effects help convey the intensity of vehicle‑to‑vehicle combat.
- Adjust graphics settings to balance performance and visual fidelity on your system.
- Observe lighting cues to anticipate enemy positions in darker environments.
