About Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes
Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes puts you in command of a fleeing human fleet, forcing you to allocate scarce supplies, dispatch expeditions, and upgrade ships within a limited number of turns before each Cylon assault. Every run restarts the narrative, and your choices shape faction politics, healthcare, and maintenance indicators.
The game alternates fleet‑management phases with real‑time space battles where you coordinate frontline squadrons while your fleet prepares an FTL jump. Four starter fleets provide distinct strategic flavors, and higher difficulty levels and meta upgrades add extra layers of challenge for repeat attempts.
01 / THE GUIDE
Fleet Management
During management phases you receive a limited number of turns to allocate supplies, dispatch expeditions, and upgrade vessels before the next inevitable Cylon assault. Each allocation directly influences three tracked indicators: faction politics, healthcare, and maintenance levels.
These indicators are dynamic; a low healthcare rating can trigger an epidemic, while poor maintenance may cause system malfunctions. Keeping each metric in a healthy range helps avoid narrative crises that could cripple your fleet later.
- Watch which indicator drops first in early runs and prioritize spending to keep all three balanced.
- Notice how a small political gain can sometimes prevent a larger disaster later in the narrative.

Crisis Decisions
When a crisis emerges—such as an epidemic, system failure, or an infiltrated Cylon—you must decide whether to resolve it immediately or accept its effects over time. Investigating a Cylon infiltrator costs resources, while delaying can cost lives.
Each crisis influences the fleet’s overall status, and mishandling can lead to severe outcomes like civil war. The game forces hard choices under pressure, reflecting the constant danger of the chase.
- Weigh the long‑term penalty of a crisis against the immediate resource cost before deciding.
- Prioritize threats that directly affect crew survival, as they often cascade into other indicators.

Real‑time Space Battles
Combat unfolds in real time as you coordinate frontline squadrons while your fleet prepares an FTL jump to safety. The battles are high‑risk, emphasizing survival rather than outright victory against the numerically superior Cylon fleet.
Your decisions during combat affect the outcome; positioning squadrons effectively and timing attacks can create openings that let your fleet escape the oncoming assault.
- Focus on positioning squadrons to cover each other's weaknesses during the battle.
- Time attacks to coincide with the fleet’s FTL jump preparation for maximum survivability.

Starting Fleets & Unlocks
At launch you can choose from up to four starting fleets, each offering a distinct playstyle. Each fleet offers its own unique playstyle for your runs.
Clearing trials unlocks additional squadron units, gunstar weapons, and modifiers that appear in your next run, expanding the tactical options available to you without altering the core starter fleet.
- Try each starter fleet early to see which strategic approach aligns with your preferences.
- Focus on unlocking new squadron units first, as they broaden your options for subsequent runs.

Difficulty & Meta Upgrades
Beyond the base challenge, you can raise difficulty levels to test your limits as a commander. Higher difficulty levels are offered to test your limits as a commander.
Investing in meta upgrades provides benefits that apply to all future fleets you command, encouraging long‑term planning across multiple attempts.
- Increase difficulty gradually after securing a meta upgrade to keep the challenge balanced.
- Track which meta upgrades most improve survivability for your preferred fleet type.
