About Battleship Command

Battleship Command puts you aboard a meticulously recreated 30,000‑ton Scharnhorst‑class battleship during World War II. You can walk the decks, bridges and control rooms in first‑person, issuing orders or directly handling stations such as gunnery, radar, navigation and damage control. The game spans the Atlantic, Norwegian Sea and Mediterranean with dynamic weather, fog and a full day‑night cycle. You hunt merchant convoys, clash with enemy warships and coordinate a surface fleet of destroyers, cruisers and battleships in both historical and fictional scenarios.

01 / THE GUIDE

First‑Person Ship Exploration

The interior of the Scharnhorst‑class vessel is built from historical blueprints, allowing you to walk its decks, bridges and control rooms. Key spaces such as decks, bridges and control rooms are rendered in 3D, giving a sense of scale and authenticity. Exploration is not limited to observation; you can move to key stations to issue orders or take direct control, linking navigation, radar and fire‑control to your actions.

  • Compare the layout of the bridge with real‑world schematics to better anticipate station locations.
  • Use first‑person exploration to familiarize yourself with damage‑control routes before combat.

02 / THE GUIDE

Naval Gunnery and Fire‑Control

Combat relies on authentic WWII gunnery and fire‑control systems, including radar and rangefinders. You can track, target and fire upon enemy vessels using these historically accurate tools. Damage modelling includes realistic flooding, affecting ship performance and requiring timely crew orders or direct station control to mitigate.

  • Observe how radar returns change in fog to adjust targeting.
  • Note the delay between rangefinder input and gun fire for timing shots.

03 / THE GUIDE

Dynamic Weather and Day‑Night Cycle

The ocean environment features changing weather, sudden fog and a full day‑night cycle that can conceal both you and enemy ships. Lighting shifts affect visibility and can be used tactically. Storms and fog are not merely visual; they influence radar performance and line‑of‑sight, adding a strategic layer to engagements.

  • Plan attacks during low‑light periods to reduce enemy detection.
  • Use fog to break line‑of‑sight after firing a salvo.

04 / THE GUIDE

Coordinating a Surface Fleet

Beyond the flagship, you can command destroyers, cruisers and additional battleships, directing maneuvers and tactics across the campaign map. Fleet coordination is essential for overwhelming enemy forces. Both historical and fictional scenarios provide opportunities to practice combined‑arms tactics, such as using destroyers for screening while the battleship delivers heavy fire.

  • Assign destroyers to scout ahead in foggy conditions.
  • Synchronize cruiser fire with battleship salvos for concentrated damage.

Quick Scenario Editor

A built‑in editor lets you create single missions and scenarios quickly, choosing locations, objectives and enemy compositions. Both historical and fictional setups are supported, allowing personal challenges. The editor integrates with Steam Workshop, enabling sharing of custom scenarios with the community for replayability beyond the core campaign.

  • Start with a small convoy escort scenario to test AI behavior.
  • Export your scenario to the Workshop to compare designs with other players.
