About Battleplan

Battleplan puts you in command of entire divisions during World War II Western Front battles that span weeks of simulated time. The game runs in real‑time, but you can pause, play, or fast‑forward, watching autonomous units follow high‑level orders you draw on a detailed map.

Each division mirrors a realistic hierarchy—from headquarters down to companies—and battles unfold across thousands of kilometres of authentic terrain. You manage supply lines, hire officers, and can upgrade units while historic photos and videos are geo‑tagged to the battlefield.

01 / THE GUIDE

Division and Officer Management

Divisions are modeled with headquarters, regiments, battalions and companies, each acting autonomously once orders are issued. You can customize the entire chain of command, combine divisions into corps, or split them down to individual companies.

Officers can be hired or dismissed, and their survivability matters because they gain veterancy and quirks over time. Listening to officer advice is optional, letting you decide how much guidance you receive during a campaign.

  • Track officer quirks after battles to decide which advisors to retain.
  • Combine divisions into corps for coordinated attacks when the situation calls for it.

02 / THE GUIDE

Multi‑Unit Map Drawing

Plans are created by drawing directly on the map, allowing multi‑step, multi‑unit orders without micromanagement. You can set defensive lines, counter‑attacks, withdrawals, and designate artillery positions on high ground using elevation data.

The map reflects real‑world geography, so forests, swamps and towns appear where they existed, influencing where you place units and how you route them.

  • Use elevation maps to position artillery for maximum effect.
  • Layer defensive and offensive orders to streamline complex maneuvers.

Supply and Terrain Effects

Supply lines are simulated realistically; terrain dictates flow, so cutting enemy routes can starve them, while capturing depots fuels your advance. Pull back when your units run low on supplies.

Fuel and ammunition are tied to the map’s roads and supply points, making logistics a core strategic layer rather than an abstract resource.

  • Secure supply depots early to maintain momentum.
  • Disrupt enemy roads to force withdrawals.

04 / THE GUIDE

WWII Western Front Scenarios

The game features more than ten massive historical battles set from 1944 onward on the Western Front. Each scenario uses geo‑tagged photos and videos placed where they were taken, letting you study real history while you play.

Divisions can be upgraded with attachments, and wounded units may rest and recuperate between engagements, reflecting the ebb and flow of actual campaigns.

  • Review the historical photos before a battle for terrain clues.
  • Upgrade divisions between scenarios to keep pace with enemy strength.

05 / THE GUIDE

Second‑by‑Second Mission Flow

Missions run second‑by‑second, lasting from one week to a month of simulated time. You can pause, play in real‑time, or fast‑forward at will, giving flexibility in how you observe the unfolding battle.

Air support assets such as recon, fighter‑bomber and heavy bomber aircraft become available as you progress, adding another layer to the real‑time environment.

  • Pause to adjust plans during critical moments.
  • Fast‑forward when logistics are stable to focus on combat.
