About Bardbarian
Bardbarian is a hybrid single‑player title that blends tower‑defense, RPG, RTS, shmup and snake influences. You guide Brad the barbarian‑musician across hand‑drawn battlefields, dodging attacks while his axe‑lute continuously creates musical notes.
Notes serve as a resource you spend to summon and empower up to twelve distinct units. Survive wave after wave, collect loot, upgrade Brad, his town and followers, and face four epic bosses in Endless or Survival modes that track scores on Steam leaderboards.

Story and Setup
Brad awakens to his town under siege and, tired of endless combat, decides to chase his dream of music. He fashions a lute from an old axe and steps onto the battlefield to protect the town’s decorative crystal.
The game begins with Brad alone; as you progress you unlock twelve unique units and can customize your party loadout. The narrative frames each wave as a defense of the crystal, giving context to the unit‑building and loot‑gathering loops.
- Notice how Brad’s musical motive shapes the visual style; it can help you pick units that match the rhythm‑based theme.
- Experiment with several unit combinations early to see which synergies feel natural for the story’s defensive goal.

Gameplay Mechanics
You move Brad around the battlefield, dodging enemy attacks and projectiles while his axe‑lute generates notes. Standing still accelerates note generation, and the notes act as the in‑game resource for performing solos.
Solos let you spend notes to summon units or boost their performance. Managing note flow while navigating hordes is essential to prevent enemies from destroying the crystal and to survive successive waves.
- Use brief stationary moments before large enemy groups to build a note reserve for a powerful solo.
- Balance movement and stillness to keep a steady note income without exposing Brad to unnecessary danger.

Units and Upgrades
Twelve distinct units become available as you collect loot from fallen enemies. Each unit can be summoned with notes and can receive performance‑boosting solos that enhance their combat contribution.
When Brad is defeated you can visit the town shop to upgrade Brad, the town, and your followers. These upgrades affect future runs, influencing note generation, unit strength, and defensive capabilities.
- Try unlocking a variety of units early to discover which ones complement each other's attack patterns.
- Observe which upgrades most improve note generation, as they often have the biggest impact on later waves.
