About Banquet for Fools
Banquet for Fools places you on the cursed island of Invimona, where a lord’s lucrative spice farms have been abandoned overnight. As a guard you lead four volunteers to uncover the mystery behind the vanished inhabitants.
The game mixes open‑world travel, beat‑em‑up combat, and a skill system that lets you equip companions with weapons, pagan spells, music and rogue abilities while navigating without an auto‑compass or quest log.
01 / THE GUIDE
Open‑World Exploration
Invimona is presented as an open world that you can traverse on foot, by portaging rivers, or by using a boat carried on your pack‑boro. Towns scattered across the island provide clues and unique items, and the lack of an auto‑compass makes remembering scroll locations essential.
Quests and requests arrive on scrolls, so you must read and retain their directions. The landscape includes abandoned farms, grave‑robber haunts, and Exile Island to the north, each offering distinct encounters that rely on careful navigation.
- Mark landmarks on a personal map to compensate for the missing auto‑compass.
- Use the pack‑boro’s boat to shorten river routes when possible.

Combat System
Combat plays out as a brawl‑style beat‑em‑up. When the action bar fills you can pause the game, open a combat dome, and select an action or target inside the dome before resuming.
You control one guard at a time while allies continue attacking. Leaders can be swapped at any moment, and a support guard can be tapped for combo attacks. Critical attacks weaken heavily defended foes, and Rally attacks let multiple companions strike together once unlocked.
- Swap leaders to match enemy weaknesses.
- Reserve critical attacks for enemies with strong defenses.

Skill & Advancement
Each companion can be equipped with weapons, armor, pagan spells, animal binding, music or rogue abilities. Experience points let a character level up skills and receive a stat point.
At each level you receive three points to distribute among any skills. Skills used frequently between level‑ups grant bonus points, encouraging you to specialize in abilities you rely on most.
- Focus on a few frequently used skills to earn bonus points faster.
- Balance combat and utility abilities to handle varied encounters.

Intercessions & Statues
Scattered ancient and newly erected statues act as conduits for the Volling deities. Completing a quest and offering a donation lets you request an intercession, which creates a custom holy item tailored to that deity.
Statues differ in power, and blessing a statue with additional intercessions yields stronger versions as you progress. The deities are described as petty and competitive, so choosing statues that match your party’s needs matters.
- Prioritize statues whose powers complement your current equipment.
- Complete the required quest and donation to prove yourself worthy of the intercession.

Field Kit & Resources
A field kit in your inventory lets you craft ammunition while away from shops. It supports three categories: arrows from wood and wildlife heads, rivi‑wraps from volatile foliage, and explosive elyxir globes made by converting alcohol from healing items.
Having a stocked field kit reduces reliance on town supplies during long hikes and dungeon runs, letting you replenish arrows, rivi‑wraps, or globes whenever raw materials are found.
- Gather wood and foliage before venturing deep into the island.
- Convert excess healing alcohol into elyxir globes for emergency damage.
