About Banner of the Maid
Banner of the Maid blends classic Japanese tactical RPG mechanics with the European battlefields of the 18th‑19th centuries. Players command line infantry, skirmishers, cavalry and artillery, exploiting a rock‑paper‑scissors hierarchy while reacting to rain, snow, fog and night.
Set amid the French Revolution, the story follows Pauline Bonaparte at the Malmason Salon as she negotiates Royalists, Feuillants, Jacobins and the secretive Malmason circle. Over 30 illustrated characters can be recruited, promoted and equipped, letting players shape a personal steel legion while completing faction missions for prestige, funds and rare gear.

Unit Types & Rock‑Paper‑Scissors
Four core unit categories—line infantry, skirmishers, cavalry and artillery—form a rock‑paper‑scissors loop where each has strengths and weaknesses against the others. Mastering these relationships is essential for turning battles. Each unit type can be recruited through commanders, whose personal stories unlock passive bonuses that further influence the matchup dynamics.
- Pair artillery with infantry to protect long‑range fire.
- Deploy cavalry against skirmishers to exploit their vulnerability.

Terrain & Weather Effects
Maps feature varied terrain that can boost defense, movement or attack range. Weather conditions such as rainstorms, heavy snow, fog and night are dynamic and may alter the outcome of an entire army. Adapting to these environmental changes is a core strategic layer, requiring players to reposition units or change tactics as conditions shift.
- Use high ground for artillery to increase range.
- Avoid night engagements with units lacking visibility bonuses.
