About BallisticNG

BallisticNG is an anti‑gravity racing title set in the 2159 Anti‑Gravity League. Players choose from a growing roster of ships and tracks, each aimed at different skill levels, and race while collecting weapons that appear on the courses.

The game offers a large campaign with many modes, split‑screen and online multiplayer, full SteamVR support, and an open‑modding framework that lets creators add tracks, ships, code mods and custom audio.

01 / THE GUIDE

Speed Classes and Smart Assists

BallisticNG provides five speed classes, each with gameplay modifiers that let the base speed range from a crawl to speeds that break the sound barrier. This lets newcomers start slow while experienced racers can push the limits on any straight.

Smart Assists give AI‑driven suggestions for steering, pitching and airbrakes. The assists adapt to the player’s inputs and stay out of the way when not needed, offering optional help for those new to anti‑gravity racing.

  • Begin with a lower speed class to focus on handling before increasing speed.
  • Enable Smart Assists for early races to see how the AI supports your inputs.

02 / THE GUIDE

Weapons and Combat

Weapons are placed on the track for players to pick up and use against opponents. The arsenal is described as sizeable, with each weapon serving a particular purpose for offensive or defensive play.

Weapons are a core part of the experience, with the game encouraging you to blast your way through the competition as you race.

  • Collect weapons early on straight sections to gain an early advantage.
  • Try different weapons to discover which suit your ship’s handling best.

BallisticNG’s campaign includes many modes: Race, Team Race, Tournament, Time Trial, Speed Lap, Eliminator, Knockout, Survival, Upsurge, Rush Hour and Stunt. Players can configure a custom race with up to 16 racers and set individual difficulty levels.

Multiplayer supports two‑player split‑screen locally and online play via direct IP or Steam. Online multiplayer is cross‑platform across Windows, macOS and Linux, allowing friends on different systems to compete together.

  • Use the custom race builder to test new ship‑track combinations before joining public lobbies.
  • Try Team Race to experience coordinated combat with allies.

04 / THE GUIDE

Modding and Content Creation

BallisticNG is built for modding, offering a spline‑based track creator, Unity‑based ship editors, and native C# support for code mods. Creators can design custom tracks, ships, HUDs, weapons, and replace sounds or music.

Additional tools include texture‑atlas builders, Blender extensions, and the option to edit XML files directly, giving developers full freedom to expand the game’s content.

  • Start with the spline track editor to quickly prototype a new circuit.
  • Use the in‑game ship viewer to instantly see changes to liveries and textures.

05 / THE GUIDE

VR Compatibility and Platform Features

BallisticNG is fully compatible with SteamVR, offering a cockpit view inside a headset. The same cockpit view is also available outside VR, letting players choose their preferred perspective.

The title runs on Windows, macOS and Linux, includes full controller support, a Keyboard Only Option, adjustable difficulty and other accessibility settings, and is DRM‑free after initial delivery.

  • Try the cockpit view in VR for an immersive sense of speed.
  • Adjust difficulty if the highest speed class feels overwhelming.
