About Ballex²: The Hanging Gardens
Ballex²: The Hanging Gardens is a physics‑driven indie title where players roll nine distinct spheres through aerial stages. Each ball—ranging from classic wood, stone and paper to balloon, sponge and sticky varieties—behaves uniquely, demanding strategic use of their physical traits to solve puzzles.
The game includes 40 stages split between mainline and side levels, and a free Level Editor DLC that lets creators build and share custom maps via the Steam Workshop. Two control modes let players choose between a fixed four‑directional view and a free third‑person view.
01 / THE GUIDE
Nine Distinct Balls
Ballex² offers nine spheres, each defined by its own physical properties such as weight, bounce, or stickiness. These properties directly affect how the sphere interacts with mechanisms and obstacles within a level.
The inclusion of balloon, sponge, and sticky balls expands the strategic options beyond the classic wood, stone, and paper balls, encouraging players to match a ball’s trait to the puzzle at hand.
- Test each ball early to understand its handling before tackling complex puzzles.
- Choose a ball whose property (e.g., stickiness) aligns with the level element you need to engage.

Dual Control Modes
Players may select a classic four‑directional view mode, which provides precise turning and movement for tight navigation, with a top‑down view available on demand.
Alternatively, the free third‑person view offers an immersive rolling experience with a camera that can lock to 45‑degree increments, allowing a broader sense of space.
- Use the classic mode when precise turning is required.
- Try the free view for open sections where spatial awareness helps.

40 Official Levels
Ballex² contains 40 meticulously crafted stages, divided into 20 mainline levels that showcase the hanging gardens and 20 side levels that raise puzzle difficulty.
The progressive layout is intended to accommodate newcomers while still offering a challenge for seasoned players as they advance through the garden’s heights.
- Begin with main levels to become familiar with ball mechanics.
- Observe environmental cues in side levels; they often hint at the needed ball property.

Free Level Editor DLC

Completed maps can be published to the Steam Workshop, making them available for the worldwide community to download and play.
- Use JavaScript to create puzzle mechanics that differ from the base game.
- Test your map in both control modes to ensure accessibility.
