About BAJA: Edge of Control HD
Baja: Edge of Control HD is a remastered off‑road racer that upgrades the 2008 original with sharper textures, higher frame rates and support for up to 4K resolution. The game spans more than 1,000 miles of rugged terrain, including steep mountains, deep canyons and thick mud.
Players choose from over 160 sponsored vehicles in eight classes, customize them with authentic parts, and compete in hill climbs, circuit races, open‑class head‑to‑head events and the long‑duration Baja endurance challenge. Both 4‑player split‑screen and 16‑player online multiplayer are supported.
01 / THE GUIDE
Vehicle Variety and Parts
The title lists more than 160 sponsored vehicles organized into eight distinct classes such as Trophy Trucks, 4x4s and buggies. Each vehicle can be equipped with authentic parts, giving players a broad selection for building a machine that fits their driving preferences.
These parts affect vehicle performance, and the game’s physics respond to each modification. Swapping components lets players observe concrete changes in acceleration, traction and stability across the varied off‑road surfaces.
- Swap a suspension part on the same vehicle to notice handling shifts on rocky terrain.
- Compare two classes on a hill‑climb to see which maintains speed on steep slopes.

Tracks, Open Worlds and Free Roam
Baja: Edge of Control HD features more than 100 tracks spread across nine open worlds, together providing over 1,000 miles of drivable landscape. Races may last up to four hours, creating endurance challenges that test vehicle durability and driver stamina.
A free‑roaming mode lets players drive beyond defined race routes, revealing hidden jumps, secret tracks and additional off‑road sections within the same detailed environments used for competitive events.
- Explore free‑roam to locate shortcuts before entering a timed race.
- Note the dominant terrain type of each world; mud, sand or rock will affect vehicle wear.

Damage Monitoring and Repair Teams
A support management system lets players monitor realistic vehicle damage, including blown tires, stressed suspension and overheating engines. Visual cues show fenders flying and other damage as it occurs during a race.
Repair teams—both truck and helicopter—can be dispatched to address issues while an event is in progress. Managing these repairs adds a strategic layer, as players balance speed against the need to keep the vehicle functional.
- Watch damage indicators closely; early repairs often prevent larger failures later.
- Consider the durability of your chosen class when planning long endurance runs.

Multiplayer Options
The game supports 4‑player split‑screen and up to 16‑player online multiplayer, covering PvP, online PvP and shared/split screen PvP. Players can race head‑to‑head in open‑class events using any of the available vehicles.
Steam leaderboards and Steam achievements are included, providing a way to compare performance and track milestones across the supported modes.
- Test split‑screen with friends to gauge vehicle balance before entering online races.
- Check the leaderboards to see competitive benchmarks for your preferred class.

HD Visual Upgrades
The HD remake delivers crisper textures, higher frame rates and increased detail, supporting resolutions up to 4K. Improved rendering techniques enhance shadows, lighting and dust effects, making the off‑road environment visually richer.
These graphical upgrades also contribute to smoother gameplay, allowing the revolutionary vehicle physics to feel more responsive on modern displays.
- Set the resolution to the highest your system can sustain for the best visual fidelity.
- Observe dust trails; they can hint at upcoming terrain changes during a race.
