About Avorion
Avorion places you at the fringe of a galaxy scarred by a cataclysmic Event that left an impassable hyperspace ring and scattered rifts. As a fledgling commander you travel toward the dangerous core, encountering alien Xsotan, mysterious Avorion metal, and a variety of factions.
The game blends sandbox ship‑building, space combat, trading, and co‑op multiplayer. Ships are constructed from scalable blocks that break where hit, and you can manage fleets, factories, and asteroid mines while choosing any playstyle—from peaceful trader to aggressive warlord.

Sandbox Ship Building
Ships are assembled from freely scalable blocks that can be arranged without a fixed voxel limit. Each block contributes to the ship’s appearance, maneuverability, and energy consumption, so designs must balance aesthetics with functional requirements.
During combat, blocks break at the exact points where they are struck, creating fully destructible vessels. You can also add hangars, turrets, and system upgrades such as autofire or repair beams to customize combat performance.
- Prioritize energy generators when adding many weapons to avoid power shortages.
- Test maneuverability in a safe sector before committing to large, heavily armored designs.

Faction Interaction
The galaxy is populated by multiple factions, each with distinct characteristics—peaceful, intelligent, or aggressive—and unique ship and station designs. Your actions affect their perception of you, influencing trade, alliances, or hostility.
Factions control sectors, and you can engage in wars, defend allies from pirates, or raid enemy freighters. Their reactions shape the opportunities and threats you encounter as you move toward the core.
- Complete missions for a faction to unlock better trade deals.
- Avoid unnecessary aggression with aggressive factions to prevent large‑scale retaliation.

Trading and Economy
You can haul over a hundred trading goods across sectors, using profitable routes to earn credits. Building cargo bays, asteroid mines, and factories attracts NPC traders, expanding your commercial network.
Trading systems can detect supply and demand across multiple sectors, allowing you to become a wealthy commander by optimizing routes and establishing a trading corporation.
- Monitor sector demand before loading cargo to maximize profit.
- Invest in asteroid mines early to generate a steady income stream.

Co‑op Multiplayer
Avorion supports online and LAN co‑op, letting friends build stations together, share ship control, or coordinate attacks. One player may steer while another handles weapons, fostering teamwork in combat and construction.
Co‑op also enables joint empire building—friends can combine resources to found factories, defend against pirates, or launch faction wars together.
- Assign clear roles (pilot vs. gunner) to improve combat efficiency.
- Share building resources early to accelerate station construction.

Creative Mode
A dedicated creative mode removes resource constraints, allowing unlimited ship construction without micro‑management. You can focus on visual design while still monitoring maneuverability and energy needs.
This mode is ideal for experimenting with block layouts, testing weapon placements, or simply crafting impressive vessels for later use in the main game.
- Use creative mode to prototype large battleships before building them with resources.
- Experiment with unconventional block shapes to discover new aesthetic possibilities.
