About Aven Colony
Aven Colony puts you in charge of humanity’s first extrasolar settlement on Aven Prime, an alien world with low‑oxygen air, extreme storms and long seasonal days. You must build infrastructure, manage resources, and keep colonists healthy amid harsh environments.
The single‑player experience includes a full campaign that uncovers the planet’s secrets, an expedition system for exploring ruins, and twelve overlay modes that let you monitor everything from crops to crime while guiding your colony toward prosperity.
01 / THE GUIDE
Colonize an Alien World
Aven Prime’s atmosphere contains low oxygen and it endures extreme electrical storms, shard storms, dust devils and toxic gas eruptions from geothermal vents. The planet’s day length creates distinct seasons, and its biomes range from lush wetlands to desert and arctic zones.
These environmental factors affect every building decision. For example, winter freezes reduce solar panel output and halt farm growth, while storms are listed as a hazard that must be considered when planning colony layout.
- Identify biomes before placing early housing to match resource needs.
- Plan power generation with winter reduction in mind.

Alien Life Encounters
The planet hosts giant sandworms, deadly plague spores, and a fungal infection known as “The Creep.” These organisms are described as threats that can affect colonies and must be considered when expanding settlements or sending explorers.
Remnants of Aven Prime’s robot guardians also remain active, adding another hazard for pioneers during expeditions.
- Observe spore‑rich zones when planning expedition launch points.
- Keep a buffer of medical resources when operating near sandworm areas.

Overlay Management
Twelve distinct overlay modes let you focus on crops, citizens, happiness, crime, air, electricity, employment, resources, commute, structures, drones, and water. Switching overlays provides a clear view of each system’s current state.
Regularly checking overlays helps you spot shortages—such as low water or electricity—early, allowing timely adjustments before problems cascade into larger issues.
- Rotate through overlays each in‑game hour for balanced awareness.
- Prioritize air and water overlays during early colony development.

Expedition System
You can deploy a crack team of pioneers to explore alien ruins, recover artifacts, repair crashed vessels and rescue lost explorers. Expeditions also bring you into contact with plague spores, The Creep, rebels and robot guardians.
Successful expeditions reveal secrets of Aven Prime and recover artifacts, making them a notable part of long‑term development.
- Scout ruin locations before committing a full expedition team.
- Balance artifact recovery with risk when robot guardians are nearby.
05 / THE GUIDE
Seasonal Cycle
Aven Prime features a functional day/night and seasonal cycle. During winter the planet freezes over, farms stop producing food and solar panels generate far less electricity.
Preparing for winter involves stockpiling food, diversifying power sources and ensuring structures can withstand the cold, so the colony remains functional throughout the harsh season.
- Build food storage before the first winter arrives.
- Add alternative power generators to offset reduced solar output.
