About Autonauts
Autonauts lets players colonise barren planets by harvesting stick and stone, crafting basic items from blueprints, and building a fleet of programmable worker‑bots. Using a visual programming language, you teach bots to repeat actions, gradually automating tasks from gathering to production.
The free Fully Automated update adds Settlement Mode, where you must grow a metropolis with only 300 bots, plus new scripting abilities, an improved Bot Database, upgraded transporters, and a dedicated Signs tab. The game blends casual simulation, crafting, and resource management in a bright low‑poly universe.
01 / THE GUIDE
Settlement Mode
Settlement Mode challenges players to develop a metropolis while staying under a strict limit of 300 bots. The mode forces you to consider how each bot contributes to infrastructure, production, and expansion across the planet.
The update also introduces new scripting abilities and refined bot behaviours, giving players more options to fine‑tune automation within the imposed bot cap.
- Map out bot roles before placing them to keep the total under 300.
- Use the new scripting options to combine several simple tasks into one bot routine.
02 / THE GUIDE
Visual Programming
Bots learn tasks through a visual programming language that records repeated actions. The system is designed to be easy for newcomers yet deep enough for complex automation.
By adding more steps and conditions, you can expand bot intelligence to handle gathering, crafting, cooking, and other advanced processes.
- Start with simple repeat actions before adding conditional logic.
- Group similar actions into reusable blocks for quicker editing.

03 / THE GUIDE
Bot Database
The Bot Database offers a quick way to share code between bots. Scripts saved here can be applied to any bot, streamlining the automation workflow.
Improvements in the latest update make the database more accessible, encouraging players to build libraries of common routines.
- Label scripts clearly to locate them quickly later.
- Create a master script for core tasks and reference it from specialised bots.
04 / THE GUIDE
Signs Tab
A dedicated Signs tab helps you get the most from each and every bot through signage.
The tab is designed to help you get the most from each bot as your settlement grows larger.
- Experiment with sign placement around your colony to see how your bots respond.
- Combine signs with scripted instructions for precise task routing.

Colonist Development
Beyond bots, players can create colonists who need assistance to survive. Introducing fishing, cooking, housing, and tailoring supports colonist growth toward a higher state.
Supporting colonists adds a layer of management, requiring bots to handle more diverse tasks and resource streams.
- Prioritise basic needs like food and shelter before adding advanced services.
- Use bots to automate repetitive colonist chores, freeing time for expansion.
