About Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book DX
Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book DX revisits the original RPG with added story episodes, a new costume inspired by Sophie's grandmother, three extra alchemical cauldrons, sprinting, a fast‑forward battle option, photo mode, and all previously released DLC bundled together. The game follows young alchemist Sophie and the sentient book Plachta as they travel to recover Plachta's lost memories and deepen their alchemical knowledge.
The DX edition runs on Windows, supports partial controller input (a gamepad is recommended), and includes English voice for most dialogue, though some events remain unvoiced. Steam integration provides achievements, cloud saves, and family sharing, while the single‑player focus remains unchanged.
01 / THE GUIDE
New Episodes and Grandmother Costume
The DX version adds new narrative episodes that expand Sophie's personal growth and introduce a costume modeled after her grandmother's attire. These episodes appear as additional dialogue scenes that slot into the existing storyline without altering core progression.
The costume changes only Sophie's visual appearance; it does not modify stats, abilities, or gameplay mechanics. Players can equip it through the wardrobe menu to see the new look during exploration and battles.
- Read every new dialogue line to catch subtle hints about Sophie's development.
- Use the photo mode to capture the costume for personal reference.

Three New Alchemy Cauldrons
Three extra cauldrons are supplied in the DX edition, allowing Sophie to run more synthesis processes at the same time. Each cauldron works like the original, accepting collected materials and producing items according to known recipes.
The added cauldrons increase the number of simultaneous syntheses but do not introduce new alchemical rules or recipe types. Players must still gather materials and select recipes manually for each cauldron.
- Gather enough raw materials before starting a batch to keep all cauldrons active.
- Organize synthesized items in inventory to avoid confusion between outputs.

Sprint and Fast‑Forward Battle Features
A sprint option can be toggled in the movement settings, letting Sophie travel faster across fields and reducing overall exploration time. Sprinting does not affect encounter rates or other world mechanics.
The fast‑forward feature shortens battle animations, allowing quicker combat without changing enemy behavior, damage calculations, or difficulty. It is a visual speed‑up that can be turned on or off at any time.
- Enable sprint when retracing familiar routes to save time.
- Activate fast‑forward during repetitive battles to maintain momentum.

Steam Achievements, Cloud, and Family Sharing
The game integrates with Steam to provide achievements, cloud‑saved progress, and family sharing. Cloud saves keep your alchemy data synchronized across devices, while achievements track milestones such as recipe discoveries.
These features operate independently of gameplay; they do not unlock additional content or alter the single‑player experience. Players can enable or disable each service in the Steam overlay.
- Turn on Steam Cloud before your first play session to protect saves.
- Check the achievements list to set personal goals while exploring.

English Voice and DLC Bundle
The English version provides voiced dialogue for most events, though some scenes remain without English voice. This partial dubbing does not affect gameplay mechanics or story comprehension.
All previously released DLC is included in the DX edition, meaning no separate purchases are required to access extra recipes, costumes, or story content that were sold as add‑ons for the original release.
- If a scene lacks English voice, enable subtitles to follow the story.
- Review the DLC list in the menu to confirm which extra items are present.
