About Astrologaster
Astrologaster drops you into plague‑stricken London of 1592, where you play the unlicensed astrologer‑physician Simon Forman. By consulting the stars you dispense medical, romantic and political advice while striving to earn a University of Cambridge medical licence.
The game blends fully voiced sitcom‑style dialogue, Renaissance‑era music and pop‑up casebook visuals. Every astrological choice influences client satisfaction, which determines whether letters of recommendation are earned toward the licence goal.

Astrological Reading Mechanics
Players are shown a sky illustration and must pick from several astrological interpretations. The description notes that astrology is not an exact science, framing the mechanic as a comedic take on real astrology.
Each selected interpretation feeds directly into the narrative, altering a client’s satisfaction level and sometimes producing unpredictable side effects that can affect later encounters.
- Try contrasting interpretations for the same sky to see how outcomes diverge.
- Notice recurring star patterns; they can make comparing interpretations more interesting.

Client Relationships and Recommendation Letters
Thirteen characters visit Forman five to seven times, each presenting personal, professional or medical dilemmas. Their stories overlap, allowing gossip gathered from one client to be used with another.
When a client is satisfied they write a letter of recommendation. Collecting enough of these letters lets the player exchange them for a medical licence from the University of Cambridge.
- Prioritise clients whose advice yields positive outcomes for faster letter accumulation.
- Use information learned from one client to influence another’s decision.

Narrative Structure and Repeating Clients
The story unfolds through fully voiced, comedy‑driven dialogue and branching choices. Each client’s arc is spread across multiple visits, so earlier decisions can echo later scenes.
Patients’ cases are presented as a beautiful pop‑up book. Players turn pages to explore deeper context, giving a tactile feel to the storytelling.
- Track each client’s timeline to anticipate how earlier advice may resurface.
- Re‑reading casebook pages can reveal subtle hints missed on first glance.

Audio and Visual Presentation
All dialogue is fully voiced by a cast of over a dozen actors, delivering sitcom‑style comedy. Each character also has a Renaissance‑era theme song that can be sung along to.
Casebooks appear as pop‑up books, adding a visual and tactile layer to the narrative as players flip through them.
- Listen for vocal cues to enjoy the performances and follow the comedy.
- Enjoy the theme songs for immersion, even though they do not affect gameplay.
