About Assassin's Creed 2

Assassin’s Creed 2 follows the new protagonist Ezio Auditore da Firenze, a young Italian noble whose family’s betrayal drives him toward the Assassin’s path. Set in 15th‑century Italy, the single‑player adventure explores Renaissance city‑states such as Florence and Venice while delivering a story of family, vengeance and conspiracy.

The game keeps the core free‑running and stealth mechanics of its predecessor and adds swimming and limited flying for traversal. Multiplayer and co‑op modes existed at launch but have been offline since 19 November 2018, leaving only the single‑player experience.

01 / THE GUIDE

Renaissance Italy

The narrative moves through a collection of 15th‑century Italian city‑states, where powerful families hold political and economic sway. Locations such as Florence and Venice provide a backdrop of cultural flourishing alongside corruption, greed and murder.

Traveling these cities lets players witness the era’s art and architecture while confronting the darker side of the period, reinforcing the game’s blend of beauty and brutality.

  • Observe the distinct architecture of each city to orient yourself.
  • Use the city layout to plan routes that avoid heavily guarded streets.

02 / THE GUIDE

Ezio Auditore’s Path

Ezio Auditore da Firenze begins as a young noble whose family is betrayed, prompting a personal quest for vengeance. His personality is described as a lady’s man with a free spirit and a very human side.

Through Ezio, players learn Assassin techniques, befriend Leonardo da Vinci, and confront Florence’s most powerful families, gradually becoming a master assassin.

  • Talk to Leonardo to learn about his role in the story.
  • Follow Ezio’s narrative cues to understand mission motivations.

03 / THE GUIDE

Open‑Ended Missions

Players may start missions whenever they choose, deciding how and when to approach objectives. The world supports free‑running, swimming and limited flying, expanding traversal options beyond the original game.

This open‑ended design lets players experiment with different approaches, whether scaling rooftops, navigating canals or taking to the air for short segments.

  • Use swimming to explore waterways that lead to new areas.
  • Try short flying segments to reach otherwise distant spots.

04 / THE GUIDE

Dynamic Crowd Interaction

The game presents a living world where each NPC can be blended with or interacted with for rewards. Blending in with the crowd is described as easier than before, offering more opportunities for stealth.

Interacting with characters can provide benefits, but actions may also lead to unexpected consequences, emphasizing the need for careful observation.

  • Blend with crowds before attempting a stealth approach.
  • Watch NPC routines to identify safe moments for interaction.

05 / THE GUIDE

Master Assassin Skills

Combat expands as players acquire new weapons, learn to disarm enemies and can use those weapons against foes. Hidden blades remain central, but the arsenal grows beyond the original set.

Perfecting disarm and weapon‑use techniques is essential for progressing toward the title of master assassin.

  • Practice disarming enemies to add their weapons to your inventory.
  • Experiment with different weapons to find what suits each encounter.
