About Arma 2
Arma 2 delivers a combat simulation built on a decade of engine development, set in the fictional ex‑Soviet state of Chernarus. The map spans 225 km² and reproduces real‑world terrain using extensive geographical data, creating a highly detailed landscape populated by civilian settlements and wildlife.
The game models real‑world ballistics, material penetration, ammunition types, dynamic wind, weather and a realtime day‑night cycle. These systems are employed by actual military training simulators, while a player‑driven, branching campaign follows the U.S. Marine Force Recon team “Razor.”
01 / THE GUIDE
Realistic Combat Simulation
Bullet trajectories are calculated with real‑world ballistics, round deflection, material penetration and stopping power, and each weapon uses specific ammunition types.
Environmental factors such as wind, weather and a realtime day‑night cycle affect visibility and projectile behavior, influencing every engagement across the map.
- Check wind direction before long‑range shots to anticipate drift.
- Use low‑light periods to reduce enemy detection.

Player‑Driven Story
Players command the five‑man Force Recon team “Razor” through a branching campaign that includes twists and surprises, shaping the fate of Chernarus.
The narrative intertwines U.S. Marine operations with Russian forces watching from the north, involving civilian settlements and wildlife in high‑stakes scenarios.
- Consider civilian presence when planning assaults; AI reacts to collateral damage.
- Explore alternate mission paths to reveal hidden story branches.

Advanced AI Behavior
All AI units act without scripted routes; they react to the actual game situation, adjusting tactics based on player actions and environmental changes.
Both friendly and enemy forces evaluate weather, time of day and battlefield conditions, producing unpredictable and dynamic engagements.
- Flank AI that appears static; they will adapt their positioning.
- Trigger weather changes to disrupt enemy decision‑making.

Mission Editor
Arma 2 includes an intuitive mission editor that lets players design custom scenarios, from simple objectives to complex AI setups.
Created missions can be shared on dedicated servers, contributing to one of the largest PC communities focused on user‑generated content.
- Start with basic objectives before adding advanced AI triggers.
- Test missions locally to verify stability before publishing.
