About Aquarium Designer

Aquarium Designer lets you build realistic fish tanks of any size, from modest home setups to grand public displays. You choose the tank’s shape, add equipment, gravel, decorations, and a variety of fish such as angelfish, bettas, and goldfish.

The game offers two creative modes—Casual and Realistic—so you can experiment freely or follow stricter species‑specific requirements. Completing client briefs earns money that can be spent on new elements for future projects in restaurants, hotels, offices, or private residences.

Creative Modes

Aquarium Designer provides two distinct play styles: Casual and Realistic. Casual mode encourages free experimentation without strict constraints, while Realistic mode requires attention to each fish’s specific needs.

Both modes let you place tanks, equipment, and decorations. In Realistic mode the challenge includes meeting proper water conditions for the chosen species, so you can experiment safely with different configurations.

  • Begin in Casual mode to learn equipment placement before tackling Realistic requirements.
  • Observe how the same fish behaves in each mode to see the impact of realistic conditions.

02 / THE GUIDE

Client Design Briefs

Each project starts with a client’s design brief that specifies tank size, shape, and intended location such as a restaurant, hotel, office, or private residence.

Fulfilling the brief successfully awards money, which can be used to purchase additional elements for later designs, creating a loop of earning and expanding your inventory.

  • Read the brief carefully to match tank dimensions with the client’s space.
  • Use earned money to diversify equipment before beginning a new brief.

Species Requirements

Different fish species have unique needs, such as specific water conditions, and filtration. When placing a species you must consider these requirements to avoid future problems.

If a setup fails you can restart without any harm to the virtual fish, allowing safe experimentation with different configurations.

  • Group fish with similar needs to simplify equipment choices.
  • Test a single species in a small tank before adding multiple varieties.

04 / THE GUIDE

Equipment Selection

Essential tank components include filters, water conditioners, and air pumps. Adding gravel and decorations also contributes to the tank’s aesthetic and functional balance.

Choosing the right combination of equipment supports fish health and influences the overall appearance, which can affect client satisfaction and earnings.

  • Prioritize filters that match the tank’s volume for optimal water quality.
  • Experiment with decorative layouts to find the arrangement you like best.

05 / THE GUIDE

Single‑Player Experience

Aquarium Designer is a single‑player title, meaning all design, budgeting, and client interactions occur within a solo session with no multiplayer component.

The game tracks progress through Steam Achievements and supports Family Sharing, allowing other family members to access the game on their own Steam accounts.

  • Check Steam Achievements to set personal design goals.
  • Family Sharing lets additional household members play the game on their own accounts.
