About Ancient Kingdoms
Ancient Kingdoms is a 2D pixel‑art RPG that recreates the look and feel of late‑80s and early‑90s role‑playing games. Set in the fantasy world of Eratiath, it tells a classic good‑versus‑evil story backed by chiptune music and detailed lore.
Players select from six classes and several races, explore forests, towns, dungeons and ruins, and can team up with up to three friends in online or LAN co‑op. The design aims to be welcoming for newcomers while offering depth for veterans.

Retro Visual Style
The game uses pixel‑art graphics that echo 16‑bit classics, with each sprite, background and animation crafted to capture that era’s aesthetic. Environments include lush forests, bustling towns, mysterious dungeons and ancient ruins, each with its own visual flair.
Settings range from tranquil villages to mysterious dungeons and catacombs, reinforcing mood changes. The visual consistency supports the nostalgic atmosphere while keeping each location distinct.
- Compare forest tiles to early SNES titles to appreciate the homage.
- Notice how the atmosphere changes when entering a dungeon for added tension.

Tap Target Combat & Tactics
Combat relies on tap‑target mechanics, requiring players to plan moves and use abilities or spells strategically. Positioning and resource management are highlighted as key elements of each encounter.
The system encourages thoughtful engagement rather than rapid button mashing, aligning with classic tactical RPG traditions while remaining accessible to newcomers.
- Test different ability combos to see which conserve resources best.
- Observe enemy patterns before committing to a full‑scale attack.

Classes, Races, and Skills
Players create characters by selecting from six classes—Warrior, Ranger, Cleric, Rogue, Wizard, Druid—and races such as elves, dwarves, humans and goblins. Each choice grants unique skills and attribute options.
Gear and equipment further tailor combat style; the inventory system lets players manage weapons, armor and items to support their chosen role.
- Mix a melee class with a spell‑casting class for balanced party dynamics.
- Review race‑specific bonuses to complement your chosen class.

Co‑op Play for Up to Four
Ancient Kingdoms supports cooperative play with up to four participants, either online or via LAN. Friends can join a single party to explore, quest and battle together.
Co‑op does not replace single‑player; both modes are available, allowing groups to experience the same world and story while solo players can adventure alone.
- Coordinate class selections with friends to cover melee, ranged and support roles.
- Use LAN for lower latency when all players share the same network.
