About Alien Hominid Invasion

Alien Hominid Invasion drops players into a chaotic alien takeover of Earth, where stealing intel, blowing up bosses, and mutating into powerful forms are core goals. Up to four players can join via online or couch co‑op, each setting their own difficulty from Friendly to Insane.

Progression is non‑linear: complete missions, level up, and unlock a vast arsenal of weapons, boosts, cosmetics, and mutations. Choose between Mastery Mode, which rewards more experience but loses everything on death, or Permakeep, the standard persistent progression.

01 / THE GUIDE

Co‑op Play

The game supports up to four participants through online co‑op, shared/split‑screen couch co‑op, or a combination of both. Each player can select an individual difficulty, allowing mixed skill groups to play together.

Co‑op play is available through online co‑op, shared/split‑screen couch co‑op, or a combination of both, with difficulty set per player.

  • Try pairing a Friendly player with an Insane player to balance challenge and fun.
  • Use split‑screen for quick local sessions before moving to online play.

02 / THE GUIDE

Difficulty & Life‑Insurance Modes

Three difficulty levels are available, ranging from Friendly to Insane, and each player selects their own setting. Two life‑insurance modes modify how death is handled.

Mastery Mode grants extra experience and better drops but forfeits all progress on death, while Permakeep retains progress after dying, offering a standard alien invasion experience.

  • Experiment with Mastery Mode for higher rewards if you’re confident in your skills.
  • Switch to Permakeep when you prefer a steadier progression without loss on death.

Mutations and Customization

Players can unlock and equip a wide range of weapons, boosts, and cosmetics to personalize their alien. Mutations add mechanics such as super speed, healing, and flight, expanding combat options.

New mutations become available after destroying each enemy headquarters, encouraging players to experiment with different weapon‑boost‑alien head combos to discover preferred playstyles.

  • Combine flight mutations with ranged weapons for aerial dominance.
  • Mix healing boosts with high‑damage weapons to sustain aggressive assaults.

04 / THE GUIDE

Non‑Linear Leveling

The game features a non‑linear leveling system where missions can be tackled in various orders. Experience and loot are earned from missions, enemy HQs, and Sewer Kid Hideouts.

Redeeming Mothership Data adds bonus modifiers such as extra lunch money or shield power‑ups, allowing players to tailor their progression path through experimentation.

  • Visit Sewer Kid Hideouts early to stock up on loot before tackling tougher HQs.
  • Use Mothership Data to apply modifiers that suit your current playstyle.

05 / THE GUIDE

Map and Mission Structure

Missions occur across randomly assembled neighborhoods built from hundreds of hand‑crafted city blocks, leading to enemy headquarters. Each HQ serves as a mission objective and a source of new mutations.

Players can also reach Sewer Kid Hideouts to unbox loot and prepare for subsequent missions, creating a loop of exploration, combat, and reward.

  • Explore city blocks thoroughly to locate hidden Sewer Kid Hideouts.
  • Prioritize destroying HQs to unlock fresh mutations for upcoming missions.
