The title adds new features such as the Katana shot and a focus on negating attacks, expanding the series’ strategic depth.
01 / THE GUIDE
Fighter and Guardian Forms
The player’s unit, called Fighter, can perform a Soul‑shift to become a giant ninja Guardian. This transformation is central to gameplay, letting players choose between the normal form and the larger Guardian form for different tactical needs.
Both forms retain two bullet shot types, and the shift can be timed to block dense bullet patterns, especially in the original Akai Katana and Akai Katana Zetsu.
- Experiment with the timing of Soul‑shift to find moments when enemy bullet density is highest.
- Observe how each form’s hitbox changes to better position yourself against incoming fire.

Attack and Defense Modes
Each unit can toggle between Attack Mode, which provides more power, and Defense Mode, which boosts mobility. Switching modes influences how quickly you can clear enemies or dodge projectiles.
Balancing power and speed by alternating these modes is key to progressing through dense enemy formations.
- Use Defense Mode when approaching clusters of fast‑moving enemies.
- Switch to Attack Mode when focusing fire on tougher foes.

Katana Shot Mechanic
Akai Katana Shin introduces a Katana shot that can be generated and fired to quickly defeat strong enemies. This adds a direct offensive option beyond the standard bullet types.
The Katana shot complements the existing Soul‑shift mechanic, allowing players to combine transformation and high‑damage firepower.
- Reserve the Katana shot for bosses or high‑HP enemies to maximize its impact.
- Combine a Katana shot with a well‑timed Soul‑shift for defensive coverage.
