About AI Roguelite
AI Roguelite is a text‑based RPG where every location, NPC, enemy, item, crafting recipe and game mechanic is generated on the fly by a large language model. The AI also creates an illustration for each entity using either your GPU or cloud services, giving each playthrough a unique visual and narrative feel.
The game offers both single‑player and multiplayer sessions, supports Steam achievements, cloud saves and Remote Play Together, and runs out of the box with default settings. Players can choose free cloud, paid cloud or custom API models for text and image generation, and an optional monthly subscription provides access to higher‑cost LLMs without limiting the base experience.
01 / THE GUIDE
AI‑Generated World
When you enter a new area, the LLM instantly creates a description, any present NPCs and potential enemies. The system answers questions such as what weapons exist in an underwater city, ensuring each location feels freshly imagined.
An illustration is produced for every generated entity, using either local GPU rendering or cloud services. This visual output matches the textual description, reinforcing the sense of a living, AI‑driven world.
- Prompt the AI with unusual environment concepts to discover unexpected details.
- Switch between local and cloud image generation to compare visual styles.
02 / THE GUIDE
AI‑Generated Crafting
Crafting recipes are not pre‑written; the AI invents them based on the names of the ingredients you combine. For example, mixing a wooden stick with a rock yields a novel tool defined by the model.
The AI also evaluates the plausibility of the resulting item, then feeds that description back into the narrative engine, allowing the item to be used in subsequent actions.
- Combine mundane and exotic ingredients to trigger the most creative outcomes.
- Keep a note of successful recipes, as the AI may not repeat them identically.

03 / THE GUIDE
AI‑Generated Combat
Combat outcomes depend on the name and description of your action, a plausibility check, and a dice roll against your attributes and skills. Attacking a "terminator robot" with a "raw salmon" generates a story reflecting that absurd choice.
After narration, the AI reviews its own story to decide whether the enemy was killed, injured, or unharmed, linking narrative description directly to game mechanics.
- Choose weapon descriptors that logically fit the target enemy to improve plausibility.
- Raise relevant skills to increase the chance of successful dice rolls.

Multiplayer Support
The game allows multiple players to join a session, each controlling their own character with independent stats, items and perks. Actions taken by any player trigger the same AI‑generated descriptions and plausibility checks as solo play.
Steam Remote Play Together and Family Sharing are listed features, meaning friends can connect through those services to share the AI‑driven narrative in real time.
- Coordinate player intents before issuing actions to keep the story coherent.
- Use Remote Play Together for low‑latency collaboration on the same machine.

Model Options & Subscription
Players may select free cloud models, paid cloud services, or custom APIs (OpenRouter, LMStudio, etc.) for text and image generation. An optional monthly subscription unlocks more expensive LLMs and image services, enhancing narrative depth and visual fidelity.
The subscription is not required; the base game runs out of the box with default settings, and any AI checks can be bypassed via options or console commands if desired.
- Start with the free cloud option to gauge performance before considering paid services.
- Test a custom API if you have specific model preferences or privacy concerns.
