About Afterimage

Afterimage follows Renee, an amnesiac survivor of a mystic assault on her village, as she journeys across the ruined world of Engardin. Her quest to recover memories and find her mentor Aros unfolds amid the aftermath of a cataclysm called The Razing.

The game presents a hand‑drawn 2D world filled with ruins, over 170 enemy types, and deep RPG mechanics. Players collect more than 200 pieces of equipment, choose from six weapon classes, and shape the ending through their actions.

01 / THE GUIDE

Story and Setting

Engardin was created by a deity who left four goliaths to maintain order. After a long war, the explosion known as The Razing ended the conflict, broke the divine cycle, and scattered humanity into settlements.

Renee, a young amnesiac student of Aros, survives an attack on her village and sets out to recover her past while confronting mystic forces that now threaten the remaining settlements.

  • Notice environmental details; ruins often hint at the world’s history.
  • Track Renee’s actions, as they shape the multiple possible endings.

02 / THE GUIDE

Combat and Enemy Variety

Humanity’s retreat allowed nature to reclaim Engardin, resulting in over 170 enemy varieties and 30 boss encounters. The Corrupted and ancient traps target careless adventurers, demanding timing and positioning.

Defeating foes yields resources that can be harnessed to unlock new skills and upgrade weapons, encouraging adaptation to each encounter.

  • Observe enemy patterns; many share visual cues before attacks.
  • Mix main and sub‑weapons to address differing enemy behaviors.
