About Ad Fundum
In the post‑Great War Age of Diesel, you pilot a massive drilling mech to explore the Earth’s depths. The goal is to harvest minerals, sell them for profit, and use the earnings to rebuild your base and improve your machine.
The game features procedurally generated maps, eight distinct underground locations, and a dynamic environment where earthquakes shift terrain. Multiple difficulty levels and several possible story endings give the experience replay value.
01 / THE GUIDE
Mech Management
Your mech can drill through rock quickly but requires fuel to operate, and its temperature must be monitored to avoid overheating or overcooling. Damage from falling stones can breach the hull, so keep an eye on hull integrity. Upgrading each mech part individually lets you transform the prototype into a more capable mining machine, allowing you to experiment with different builds.
- Balance fuel consumption with drilling speed to extend each expedition.
- Watch temperature gauges closely during long drills to prevent shutdowns.

Base Reconstruction
Profits from mineral sales can be spent to restore your base, which in turn enhances mining performance and unlocks special abilities. A better base provides a stronger foundation for future expeditions. Rebuilding is tied directly to the amount of money you accumulate, encouraging efficient resource collection and sales.
- Prioritize upgrades that improve mining speed for faster earnings.
- Invest in base improvements early to unlock later abilities sooner.

Location Exploration
Eight diverse underground locations await, each with its own visual style, atmosphere, music, and unique threats. As you dig deeper you unlock new areas, expanding the variety of environments you encounter. Every location features its own original soundtrack, adding to the distinct feel of each region.
- Each location has its own music, which adds to the distinct feel of each region.
- Take note of each location’s visual cues to anticipate specific threats.

Dynamic Earthquakes
The ground you dig is unstable; earthquakes can shift terrain, making resource collection risky. However, earthquakes may also rain minerals, presenting a tempting opportunity. Timing your drills around seismic activity can affect both safety and yield, adding a strategic layer to each run.
- Observe quake patterns before committing to a deep drill.
- Weigh the risk of hull damage against the potential mineral windfall.

Procedural Variability
Each expedition generates a unique map, ensuring no two runs are identical. This procedural generation influences rock formations, resource placement, and hazard distribution. Combined with multiple difficulty settings and customizable difficulty, the game can be tailored to a relaxed or challenging experience.
- Experiment with different difficulty presets to find your comfort zone.
- Use the procedural nature to practice varied strategies across runs.
